In the framework of the response to the migratory situation in the western border of Honduras.
Background
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), created in 1951, is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is committed to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. In doing so, it provides services and advice to governments, migrants and their host communities.
As part of the institution's work, the implementation of different research processes related to human mobility in different contexts stands out, with the aim of informing on the current conditions of the migrant population in the country, so that information can be obtained to guide decision-making and inform the different IOM projects, as well as the institutions and organizations with which IOM works in close collaboration in the protection of the rights of migrants. Thanks to the information obtained, IOM aids the population, in strict compliance with the principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality and independence, mainstreaming gender, intergenerational, human mobility and disability approaches.
- Scope of Action
The activities to be developed will be implemented in the department of Ocotepeque, mainly in the municipality of Ocotepeque, and the border Agua Caliente.
- Implementation objectives
2.1 General objective
Generate information on migrants in transit to characterize the different population groups, among other aspects.
- Target population
The target population of this intervention are:
- Migrants in transit, adults 18 years or older.
- Responsibilities
1. To be fully aware of and follow the protocol established for the application of the survey by the interviewer.
2. Apply the expected rules on data protection, following the ethical behavior for the request and safeguarding of information, as well as in the relationship with the interviewees.
3. Schedule a weekly activity schedule, maintaining the necessary time availability to update the data at the time indicated by the IOM staff, as well as being available for the time required to update the data during the visit.
4. Support in the delivery of kits or information as part of the project activities.
5. Maintain proper conduct throughout the fieldwork and especially during the interview.
6. Always carry with him/her, during fieldwork, the documents and badges that accredit him/her as an interviewer.
7. Ensure the integrity of the material received to carry out the work.
8. Ensure the good condition of the assets, and being responsible with it according to the respective instructions as they have been assigned to him/her. Also, to request their maintenance, repair or disposal.
9. Communicate regularly with your immediate supervisors and implement their instructions.
10. Prepare and submit work reports as required.
11. Not to disclose for any reason the data shared by the informants. The information provided is confidential in accordance with legal regulations.
12. During the interview, do not ask questions or make comments that are not related to the survey.
13. To perform other functions related to the mission of the job position and those that by law are within their competence.
- Consultant Profile
5.1. Competencies:
The applicant is expected to have at least the following skills:
5.1.2 Proficiency in English and Spanish
5.1.2 Proficiency in Microsoft Office with an advanced level of Excel, and intermediate level of Word, Power Point.
5.1.3 Basic knowledge of applying surveys.
5.1.4 Basic knowledge in the use of mobile devices.
5.1.5 Basic knowledge of spelling and grammar.
5.1.6 Flexibility to work different schedules, good time management and organization.
5.1.7 Adequate personal presentation.
5.2. Education and Experience:
5.2.1 Education: general baccalaureate degree or vocational technical baccalaureate degree.
5.2.2 Experience:
5.2.2.1 Previous verifiable previous experience in similar processes, minimum one year.
5.2.2.2 Knowledge of the national territory (departments and municipalities).
- Duration of the contract and form of payment
The duration of the activities shall be 2.5 months from the date of signature of the contract. Payment shall be made monthly.
- Supervision and coordination
The bilingual enumerator hired will be under the technical supervision of the information unit in Honduras and the person in charge of the project in Central America.
