Olancho Aid Foundation (OA)

Location: Honduras-based remote, with periodic in-person work in Juticalpa

Position Type: Full-time or part-time (based on candidate experience and availability)

Start Date: As soon as feasible

Reports to: Executive Director

ABOUT OA

Olancho Aid Foundation works alongside educators, families, and communities in Olancho, Honduras to expand access to inclusive, quality education. Through our schools, community partnerships, and Global Exchange program, we build long-term relationships rooted in solidarity, collaboration, and shared learning.

ROLE SUMMARY

OA is seeking a bilingual (English–Spanish) Marketing & Communications Lead to own and lead all communications efforts across the organization.

This is a hands-on, entrepreneurial role for someone who is excited to both create content and build how communications function over time. You will shape how OA tells its story—connecting on-the-ground work in Honduras with supporters, partners, and a broader global community.

As a growing organization, many communications systems are still evolving. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in an environment where not everything is fully built, takes initiative, and enjoys creating structure where it does not yet exist. This role requires both creativity and follow-through: someone who can capture powerful stories and also develop the systems that ensure consistent, high-quality communication.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Planning and Systems Development

  • Develop and manage a communications calendar aligned with programs, campaigns, and fundraising priorities
  • Build and refine simple, effective systems for content planning, production, and publishing
  • Strengthen internal workflows to support consistency and follow-through

Content Creation and Storytelling

  • Identify, gather, and write stories that reflect OA’s work and community impact
  • Capture and develop multimedia content (photo and video) from the field
  • Maintain an organized and accessible digital library of media assets
  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and messaging across all platforms

Digital Communications and Email Marketing

  • Manage and publish content across OA’s social media platforms
  • Create newsletters and targeted email campaigns, including basic segmentation and automation
  • Maintain and update website content with clear and compelling calls to action

Visibility and Outreach

  • Support local and international visibility efforts
  • Maintain media and partner contact lists
  • Draft press materials and support promotion of key events, visits, and organizational milestones

Measurement and Continuous Improvement

  • Track key metrics across platforms (email, social media, website)
  • Identify trends and recommend practical improvements
  • Continuously refine communications strategies based on performance and organizational needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field (nonprofit or mission-driven work preferred)
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills in both languages
  • Experience managing social media, email marketing, and website content
  • Familiarity with tools such as CMS platforms, email marketing systems, Canva or Adobe, and donor databases
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small, distributed team

CORE COMPETENCIES

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort working in a growing organization
  • Ability to take initiative and build structure in evolving environments
  • Strong organization and project management skills
  • Ethical and culturally grounded storytelling
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Collaborative communication and sound judgment

WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This role plays a key part in connecting OA’s work in Honduras with a broader community of supporters and partners. Strong, consistent communication helps sustain programs, deepen relationships, and ensure that the voices and experiences of the communities we work with are shared with integrity and care.
