II. Organizational Context and Scope
IOM´s Information Unit seeks to strengthen the governments’ capacity to manage, collect and analyse migration information to support humanitarian action and protection of vulnerable populations in Northern Central America (NCA).
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission for El Salvador and Honduras, the direct supervision of the Information Management and Research Officer and the secondary supervision of the IRM National Coordinator, the incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation, processing and analysis of data, as well as the design and developing of methodological frameworks and tools to collect reliable information in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Specifically, he/she will have the following core functions and responsibilities:
III. Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Contribute to the design of methodology frameworks for data collection activities in the NCA.
- Liaise with government counterpart, donors, UN agencies, and relevant stakeholders on a regular basis to support the implementation of the Information Unit activities in Honduras.
- Conduct general data processing and analysis of primary data (Returns, Displacement, Migration, Remittances and Development) and secondary social, economic and demographic information related with human mobility patterns.
- Explore and apply new data visualization techniques to increase data insight, visibility and associate policy-related opportunities, challenges, and priorities for internal use and external communication.
- Participate in the development of standard operating procedures aimed to improve the quality of data collection and registration activities.
- Train and supervise interviewers and data entry assistants in the NCA, focusing on data quality and consistency in order to ensure reliable products.
- Monitor third-party data collection activities under the direct guidelines provided by the information and research unit of IOM
- Elaborate budgets and financial plans for data collection and information management activities.
- Present information products to counterparts as requested.
- Close collaboration with the Public Information and Communications Unit and other relevant departments and units, ensuring smooth and constant flow of project-delivered data from all activities to internal reporting needs.
- Identify gaps on data and information relevant to the project and contribute to the preparation of solutions-based approach.
- Provide user support and assistance with trainings on information management tools and reporting needs.
- When requested, work alongside with IOM stakeholders/partners, IOM operations staff to undertake assessments at primary level.
- Support, as needed, the effective collection and use of information humanitarian emergencies (including sitreps, information systems, surveys, etc.), as well as to contribute with IOM´s mission with CCCM responsibilities.
Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
IV. Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, or a combination of relevant education and professional experience with 4 years of experience
Experience
- Experience in processing and analysis of large datasets.
- Experience in the development of reports for different audiences.
- Experience in a research project is a plus.
- Experience data collection for empirical research is a plus.
- Experience with human mobility and remittances data is desirable.
SKILLS
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of statistical software such as R Software, PYTHON, SPSS, SAS and/or STATA.
- Excellent written English communication skills, with focus on research papers and descriptive reports for diverse audiences.
- Basic knowledge of GIS tools (e.g. ArcGIS) is a plus.
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming is a plus.
- Knowledge of Agenda 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals is a plus.

Required: Fluency in English and Spanish is required (oral and written)
