I. POSITION INFORMATION 

Position title: Senior Project Assistant- FRTF 

Position grade: G.6 

Duty station: Tegucigalpa, Honduras 

Job family: Operations 

Organizational unit Is this a Regional, HQ, MAC, PAC, Liaison Office or Country Office based position?: Country-office 

Reports directly to: Project Coordinator 

II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE 

Since the inception of IOM in 1951, Movement Operations have been and continue to be a fundamental pillar of the Organization’s work. The organized movement of persons in need of international migration assistance is a primary mandate of the Organization and a cornerstone of IOM’s operations. This mandate has resulted in the international transport of more than 15 million migrants and refugees worldwide. Movement Operations departments in various IOM missions, coordinated under the division of Resettlement and Movement Management (RMM) in the Department of Operations and Emergencies (DOE) at IOM’s Geneva Headquarters, are responsible for all aspects of travel for migrants and refugees under IOM’s auspices, in accordance with the various framework agreements with resettlement and receiving Governments and partners across the spectrum of the Organization's programmes. 

Under the general guidance of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator for the FRTF Project, the Project Associate- FRTF will be responsible for supervising and implementing the Family Reunification Task Force Project (FRTF) in Honduras.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES 

• Monitor the implementation of the FRTF Project in Honduras in a timely manner, ensuring IOM procedures and guidelines are followed. 

• Supervise project staff members (case management) undertaking case management activities and giving feedback to staff member on their performance on a regular basis to ensure high quality work and the accurate completion of case management activities. 

• Ensure the timely execution of the workplan of FRTF project in Honduras. 

• In coordination with the Project Manager- FRTF, organize coordination 2 meetings with governments counterparts, US Embassy and implementing partners to guarantee the effective implementation of the activities of the FRTF project in Honduras.

 

IV. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

EDUCATION 

  • School diploma with six years of relevant experience or,
  • Bachelor's degree in political or social scencies, internacional relations, development studies, migration studies, human rights, law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE 

• Experience in project formulation, implementation and evaluation will be an advantage. 

• Experience in operations, humanitarian assistance and programs for vulnerable migrants

 • Experience in liaising with governmental and diplomatic authorities.

 • Excellent computer skills - Word, Excel and Internet

SKILLS 

• Attention to detail and ability to organize 

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills 

• Ability to use own initiative and work under pressure with minimum supervision 

• Excellent writing and drafting skills

 

V. LANGUAGES

 Required (specify the required knowledge): Fluency in English and Spanish (oral and written).
